Hidetaka Miyazaki Open to Elden Ring Movie Adaptation with Limited FromSoftware Involvement

Elden Ring's Hidetaka Miyazaki could support a movie adaptation on the sole condition of minimal involvement from himself and the FromSoftware team. Miyazaki mentioned he has no objections to Hollywood adapting the game into a movie or TV show as long as he and his colleagues are not significantly involved.

In an interview with The Guardian, Miyazaki shared with the studio president that he has no reason to reject different interpretations of Elden Ring, such as a movie. However, Miyazaki and FromSoftware lack the expertise to create something in another medium. This is where a reliable partner would be crucial.

Miyazaki further elaborated that the Elden Ring team would need to establish significant trust and agreement with any party interested in bringing the source material to the big screen. He confirmed interest in this endeavor.

Directed by Miyazaki, Elden Ring is an open-world RPG where players create a character and embark on a quest atop their steed Torrent, seeking to restore the runes of the titular item and become the new Elden Lord.

In 2021, Bandai Namco announced its plans to expand the Elden Ring universe into various other areas. Many fans speculated this meant a movie or TV series, though no solid updates have been provided since.

CEO Yasuo Miyakawa mentioned that the development of Elden Ring would continue in multiple areas to showcase the world and appeal the title to fans globally, and they anticipate ongoing support from the community.
