Xbox Series X to Introduce Customizable Console Wraps in Late 2023
Aug-23-2023
In an exciting new development, Xbox has announced that it will be introducing cosmetic console wraps for the Xbox Series X, set to begin rolling out in late 2023. This development was revealed in an official blog post, confirming that the first of these wraps will be a Starfield-themed design.
According to the official announcement, the Starfield wrap will be available on October 18th, 2023, across the United States, Canada, and Europe. This will be followed by the launch of the Arctic Camo and Mineral Camo console wraps on November 10th, with availability limited to the US and Canada. Each of these wraps will allow users to personalize their consoles while also indicating their gaming preferences.
The Starfield wrap is estimated to cost approximately $49.99 USD, while the two camo wraps will be priced at about $44.99 USD each. Pre-orders for these initial three wraps have been opened, offering Xbox users the opportunity to secure their preferred designs ahead of the official release.
The introduction of console wraps marks a significant step forward for Xbox, which appears to be positioning itself to compete with PlayStation. The PlayStation 5 console's recent Marvel’s Spider-Man 2-themed edition was a major success, with pre-orders selling out rapidly. PlayStation has been offering fans the option to buy specialized components separately, in addition to bundles that include all the cosmetics. This strategy enables fans to express their diverse interests without the need to purchase a new console each time.
Xbox's move to introduce customizable console wraps is a clever way to engage with their user base and tap into the trend of personalization that is sweeping across the consumer electronics industry. It remains to be seen how the Xbox community will respond to these wraps and whether they will help boost the popularity of the Xbox Series X.
